My precious bb is 12 weeks and 1 day old today!
Last Saturday 17 Mar, we had a belated full moon party for her in KL since we didn't have any in January due to CNY.
We departed SG to Ipoh on 14 Mar Wed morning 6am and arrive Ipoh at about 12 noon.
I breast fed BB Rae during the long drive and she slept most of the time, so was pretty easy.
PIL were really happy to see bb, they prepared diapers, play pan, baby cot for her.
On Thursday 15 Mar morning 8.30am, we brought BB Rae to the MY birth registry to apply her MY citizenship.
BB Rae is born a Singaporean but we think it may be beneficial for her to have dual citizenship now as I may need to leave her with PIL should I decided to start work.
We gotta wait for 6 months to know the outcome of our citizenship application.
On Friday 16 Mar, we departed Ipoh for KL at about 10.30am.
We stayed with BIL.
We brought bath tub, pails, bouncing net to his place as he is a bachelor living alone in a 2 story house.
In the evening, we went to SIL place to ve dinner together.
The 3 girls were very happy to see bb Rae, they spent the whole Saturday morning preparing handmade cards, gift wrapped toys, clothes etc for bb Rae,
BB Rae's belated full moon party was organized in SIL's condo clubhouse.
A luxurious buffet dinner was catered.
We had more then 60 guests.
The party ended at about 10.30pm and BB Rae fell asleep on our way back to BIL's place.
The next day, Sunday, we had dim sum brunch before driving back to Ipoh.
We spent another 2 days in Ipoh before driving home yesterday, Wed 21 Mar.

Home Alone
Last Thurs MIL received a sad news that her step mother (her dad had 2 wives, her maternal mum died years ago) passed away in the afternoon, so she and FIL went to the wake on Thurs evening after dinner with me.
They returned home at about 2am on Fri morning and left for the wake again at about 11am same day.
The wake was in Kuala Kangsar (a royal town which is half an hour drive from Ipoh) and for 2 days.
The funeral is on Saturday, which is this afternoon and there will be a group dinner after the ceremony.
Since they need to attend the funeral early on Sat morning, they'd decided to stay in KK hotel for a night.
So I was home alone on Fri!
They didnt want me to go with them as they didnt want to tired me and also RY is arriving on Sat early morning, as such I need to be around to open the door for him.
Being home alone is fine except for the part on finding food for myself!
I had suggested to walk out to the nearby eatery for my meals, but PIL disallowed as Malaysia is generally not a very safe place to walk alone. They had refused to let me go out and also didnt want me to cook my own food since I may not be familiar with their stove, crokery etc.
Luckily we had home cooked fried noodle and fried rice for lunch and dinner respectively on Thurs and there was some left over, so on Fri, I had the left over noodle for lunch and fried rice as dinner.
I had the whole house (double storey semi-d) to myself on Fri till Sat morning and I was really lonely.
This was what I did to kill the boredom:
Friday
- At 11am, said goodbye to PIL and surf the internet till it was about lunch time.
- At about 12.30pm, I heated up my noodle and had my lunch.
- Surf internet and watch TV till 4pm
- Read my novel till 6pm
- Take my shower
- At about 7pm heated up fried rice and had my dinner while watching TV
- Chatted with RY before he left SG home to catch the bus to Ipoh
- At About 8.30pm, went up to the bedroom to surf the net and read my novel till I fell asleep at about 12 midnight
Saturday
- Alarm went off at about 5.30am on Sat morning and also received RY's SMS that he was arriving home via taxi.
- Hurray! RY arrived home at 5.45am (this was the best part since it ended my lonely ordeal!)
- From 6am onwards prepared breakfast and eat with RY and did laundry etc
I am glad that RY changed his mind to come to Ipoh this weekend, else I may need to spend a lonely Saturday too as PIL will only be back after dinner ............ and I may starve since no more left over food .........

Happy National Day 2011
Happy Birthday Singapore!
This year, SG is celebrating 46 years of independence on 9 Aug 2011, tomorrow!
I am very happy as RY is spending this long weekend with me in Ipoh, as he took Monday off to stay from Sat to Tue (6 to 9 Aug).
RY has been taking overnight Fri bus from SG to Ipoh (arrive Ipoh on Sat early morn) for the past weekends And return on Sun night to arrive SG on Mon early morning.
Since mid July, he had been trying to get return ticket on 9 Aug (Tue) instead of Te usual Sun so that he can spend longer time with me, but with no avail since the bus ticket was sold out weeks before. He was lucky to secure the bus ticket to come to Ipoh on 5 Aug Fri night and according to the bus company, the Sun return tixs were plenty as many chose to return late on Tue to have a long weekend with their loved ones in Ipoh.
For the last 2 weeks in Jul, we were calling practically the bus company everyday to hope for a return tix on 9 Aug but the reply was negative.
Just when we were about to give up, on the previous Sunday while we were seeing RY off at the bus station, we made a last attempt to enquire about the 9 Aug night departure bus.
To our surprise, the counter staff told us that they happened to have one last ticket as someone had given up his seat!
We were so happy and quickly grabbed the tix!
As RY is spending 4 days here in Ipoh, he is contemplating whether to come to Ipoh this weekend.
He asked me if I would like him to come, I said my answer would be biased so I told him to decide.
I think most probably he won't come, which I will know tomorrow since he would usually buy the bus ticket for the next visit at the bus station before he departs.
So I will only see him the following week!

Unbearable Weather
Do you believe that it has not rained for more than a week here in Ipoh?
I've checked the weather forecast that for the next 8 days, the weather will be the same - no rain, dry and hot!
The weather is really dry and it got worst with the haze now, as heat is being trapped which makes it even hotter and drier.
During the day, I will sit in the living room, in front of the fan blowing directly at me, and at night, I will be sleeping under a full blast spinning ceiling fan.
MIL has asked me to turn on the air con but I'd refused since I do not wish to increase the electricity consumption which translates into higher utility bill.
Moreover, with this kind of dry weather it would mean much higher power usage to cool the house which is bad to the environment.
My simple wish now is for the rain to come!

Understanding PIL
I think I am one of the rare DIL who can get along well with my PIL, especially MIL.
My MIL was worried that I may be bored in Ipoh that she went to upgrade the internet network to a faster speed with wireless modem (previously it's lower speed and wire connection).
She even dig out all her book/ novel collections for my leisure reading.
FIL has been preparing yummy meals for me and when he is tired of cooking, we will have restaurant food. Looking at the rate i am eating, in no time I shall turn into a "tai fei poh" (I.e. Put on weight).
I gotta watch my food intake and do some exercise.
I also try to do my part to contribute to the household chores, like washing of plates after meals, do laundry.
Fortunately they've part time maid, else may need to help out in house cleaning.

Move to Ipoh
After much discussion with RY, we've decided to move from KL to Ipoh to continue my long MY vacation.
No doubts the kids are very adorable and I'd enjoyed spending time with them, but I was gradually getting bored and would like a change of environment.
Last Sat, We packed up and moved all our barang barang to Ipoh.
After settling me down in Ipoh, RY drove back to SG on the following morning.
He will come to Ipoh this Fri taking a night bus which will arrive early Sat morning.
I ve been enjoying my stay in Ipoh since the air is fresh and food is yummy too!
I shall stay here until I am bored, then I may either go back SG or to KL.

Deepavali 2010 in Ipoh
Last Fri 5 Nov was Deepavali holiday in SG & MY and RY and myself drove to Ipoh (instead of KL) to spend the long weekend with his family.
We left SG about 5.30am for Tuas 2nd link and was delighted to see no queue at SG custom but we were trapped in MY custom for > 1 hr before we got thru.
It was also heavy traffic on the hi-way and we only managed to arrive Ipoh about 2pm (usually it only took us 5 hrs to reach Ipoh).
Basically we just eat, sleep and watch TV in Ipoh to R&R whenever we go back .........
However I was surprised to meet 4 new golden retriever puppies since the neighobur's retrievers (Barney & Angel) just gave birth to the baby retrievers 5 months ago.
The owner was kind and friendly to allow me to play with the puppies, namely Gigi (eldest girl), Tommy (2nd boy), Danny (3rd boy) and Meimei (youngest girl).
They were really playful and left countless paw prints on my body!
I really enjoyed my stay in Ipoh since its carefree and simple life ............
I'll consider retire in Ipoh and get to eat all the good and tasty food there ......... yum yum yum ............
Do let me know if you're considering going to Ipoh and I shall recommend you few nice places to visit and tell you where to go for good food!

Back from Ipoh!
There was a change of plan, instead of departing for Ipoh from SG on Fri 28 May, RY decided to leave on 27 May Thur evening in view of the shorter working day (office close early at 4pm for the "eat-with-family" campaign).
So RY picked me up from wrok at 4pm to go home to pack up and finally set-off at 5pm to MY.
It was a very adventurous drive since the night traffic was really busy and all the night riders were driving really fast and ones need to be fast in order to keep up with the traffic.
I dont think I'll ever have the courage to drive alone on the Malaysia hi-way at night, it's really no joke, eveyone is moving really really fast ..........
Both SG and MY customs were very smooth and we managed to reach Ipoh at 11.30pm.
We didnt starve, we had our fast food dinner at the toilet stop after Malacca.
This morning 7am, we set off from Ipoh and back in SG at 1pm and we were glad that there wasnt any queue at the customs.
I dont think we'll try night driving to Ipoh again (KL is ok since its shorter distance and we've done it couple of times) since it's really very tiring .........
But not sure what RY thinks ...........

Vesak Day to Ipoh
This Fri 28 May is Vesak Day and it's a public holiday in SG, since its long weekend RY has suggested to drive back to Ipoh.
I think it's kinda crazy to drive such long hours to go back Ipoh and spend just 3 days there, but I know I should respect RY since he wants to go back home to see his parents ........ he's ultimately somebody's son, so I should let the parents see their son too ......
Initially we planned to meet up the parents in KL but last min, the parents cant make it, so RY change his plan to go to Ipoh instead.
You may ask, why dont you extend our stay in Ipoh?
It's becos' I've a flight to catch on the following Monday to go on a biz trip for a week.
I'm actually not very keen to do any biz trip and that's the reason why I switched to this current job to minimise travelling.
Sometime I asked myself, was it a mistake that I took up a travel intensive job years ago which may have somehow delayed my family planning??
I've no answer for that since it was the "best" decision at that point in time as I was enjoy doing it ........
It's also no point crying over spilt milk now.
Well, I look forward to Ipoh trip for the yummy food as well as my cheap hair cut (I get my hair done in a proper salon for RM25 by qualified hair stylist).

Qing Ming Festival 2010
The Qingming Festival (simplified Chinese: 清明节) Clear Bright Festival, Ancestors Day or Tomb Sweeping Day is a traditional Chinese festival on the 104th day after the winter solstice (or the 15th day from the Spring Equinox), usually occurring around April 5 of the Gregorian calendar (see Chinese calendar).
The Qingming festival falls on the first day of the fifth solar term, named Qingming. Its name denotes a time for people to go outside and enjoy the greenery of springtime (踏青 Tàqīng, "treading on the greenery") and tend to the graves of departed ones.
Qingming has been regularly observed as a statutory public holiday in Taiwan and in the Chinese jurisdictions of Hong Kong and Macau. Its observance was reinstated as a public holiday in mainland China in 2008, after having been previously suppressed by the ruling Communist Party in 1949.
But unfortunately, its not a holiday in SG so we've to either do the "tomb sweeping" during weekends or take annual leave from from work.
Its strange but somehow before/ during the Qingming festival, the weather would be rather wet and it has been raining heavily in SG for the past few days.
In SG to avoid the hugh crowd, we'll usually go before the actual or after the actual day but it has to be within the same month in the Chinese Calendar.
Yesterday morning, we've gone to pay respect to our late grandparents whose tables are housed in Ju Shi Lin temple near to River Valley.
This coming Fri, we're going back to Ipoh so that we can join his dad to go to Tapah this Sunday for the "ancestor tomb sweeping".
We've booked the Firefly air-ticket to depart this Fri and return on Sun; and the air-tix cost us RM1,530 for 2 paxs.
It's very expensive for such a short trip but we think this is a better choice since I'm currently under fertility treatment and should not be stressed up.
No doubt driving is cheaper alternative but I may be stressed up due to the long drive, custom jam and worried that RY may fall asleep during the long drive ..........
We've to pay such a high air fare as Firefly (subsi of Malaysia Air) is the only airline that flies from SG to Ipoh and there's no domestic flight from KL to Ipoh ...........

Ipoh during X'mas
On 24 Dec, we went to Ipoh for a short vacation to visit RY's parents.
The custom in both SG & MY at 2nd link were very clear and we pass through swiftly.
Traffic on the hiway was ok too except for the stretch nearing KL is abit congested.
We arrived Ipoh on 24 Dec 6.30pm and we thought we'd arrived at about 8pm since we set-off from SG at 1pm.
We went to near by cze cha place for x'mas eve dinner with the whole family (RY's younger brother and sister came back from KL for the festive holiday too).
His sister has 3 young and beautiful daughters, they are very adorable too.
On X'mas day, RY's parents tah pau some hawker food for our breakfast and lunch, RY brought me to the famous Hong Tou restaurant in old Ipoh town for the prawn mee hoon.
The RU brought me to Funny Mountain for the nice beancurd and also bought some local snack for my family.
Dinner was home cooked meal prepared by FIL.
After dinner, we went to GV for movie - Avatar.
On Saturday, we went to Yoke Fook Moon for dim sum breakfast.
Lunch was hor fun and mee hoon at YMCA and we went to Secret Recipe for desserts.
Dinner was at this new restaurant called Hoi Seng, the pork ribs was really tasty - its like our Kong Bah Pao
On Sunday, it was some hawker food breakfast and lunch was home cooked pasta.
Dinner we went to Move n Peak for steamboat buffet.
We left for SG on Monday morning at 7am and arrived at 12.15pm and had lunch at Jurong West.
Then RY send me to office since I only applied half day leave - arrive office at 1pm.
This trip in Ipoh is basically eat, sleep & watch TV as we hardly go out.
The only outdoor activity I did was morning jog and playing with neighbours' doggies.
The 1st corner house has 2 golden retriever and a beagle and the house next to PIL is a mongrel.
Ipoh is a laid back town and is an ideal place for retirement ..........
I think I'll retire there............
